Last updated: September 16, 2023 at 12:15 pmThe CXC English Private Lessons 2023-2024 (Lethem) is expected to run from October 2023 to April 2024. Lessons will be given to students in a physical classroom setting (not online) for one hour every day, five days per week, four weeks per month from October 2023 to April 2024, totally 125 contact hours. The lessons will be tailored to the students’ needs and current level of competency and designed to build up their competency in the areas in which CXC tests.
In the month of December, there will only be lessons for the first two weeks of the month. In January, lessons will commence on the second week of the month.
The exact location and hours that the lessons will run will be finalized later. All students who enroll will be updated with this information. For now, lessons are expected to run in the afternoon or evening hours.
The exams will be written in Lethem via the Department of Education in Region 9. In addition to the cost of the lessons itself, students are required to pay the CXC exam fees in the month of November, 2023 at the Department of Education in order to be enrolled to write the exams in May/June 2024. More information and guidance on this will be provided to students who enroll.
Students are advised to have a copy of “A Comprehensive English Course for CXC” which contains the material on which the CXC Examining Body tests English proficiency for students of CXC English.
Costs
The cost of the lessons is GY$500 per hour which works out to GY$10,000 per month every month, except for the month of December which will cost $5000 for two weeks, and January, which will cost $7,500 for three weeks. This tuition fee is required to be paid on a monthly basis at least ten days before the start of each month.
