1/2 cup dhal

Two and a half glasses of water

2 tomatoes

1 chilly pepper

Salt (to your taste)

1 Tea Spoon Tumeric Powder

1 Tea Spoon Cooking Oil

1 pinch of Asafoetida

1/4 Teaspoon fennel seeds (Rye)

1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds (Geera)

1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds

1/4 teaspoon chilly powder

First wash the dhal and soak for about 30 minutes.

Drain the dhal, then add to pressure pot along with two and a half glasses of water.

Add tomato cut in halves.

Add chilli pepper, some salt, and tumeric powder. Stir a little.

Close pressure pot and cook for three whistles.

Open and stir. Mash the tomatoes and other ingredients into the dhal.

Heat oil in frying pan.

Add the asafoetida powder and stir.

Next add the fennel seeds, cumin seeds, and mustard seeds.

Stir and fry for about two minutes.

Take off the fire and, finally, add the chilli powder and mix into the fried mixture.

Finally, pour the mixture into the dhal and stirl well.

And that’s it! Congratulations! You’ve cooked dhal!
