CEO of Sheriff Security, Ameir Ahmad, and well known businessman, Azzrudin Mohamed, have for months been engaged in an escalating conflict. Largely, it was a war of words with wild accusations being hurled back and forth. However, recently, the heated verbal clash appears to have morphed into a physical conflict. Ameir Ahmad claimed yesterday, Saturday, 12th of April, 2025, via a Facebook post, that men on motorcycles accosted and stabbed his younger brother, who is just 20 years old. He claims the men shouted that the wounding was a “warning from Mohamed.” Guyana Daily News posted that the younger brother, Riyad Ahmad, has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
Azzrudin Mohamed claims that Ameir Ahmad is the owner of local media publication “Guyana Daily News.” Although a large fraction of Guyana’s population appear to share the same view, Ahmad has vehemently denied the ownership. He says he sometimes advertises with Guyana Daily News but that he is not the owner. Over the last several months, Guyana Daily News has been constantly posting degrading and defamatory content about the Mohameds of Lombard Street, Georgetown, namely, Azzrudin Mohamed, Nazar Mohamed, and also some of their close family members. So far, the Mohameds have never announced a lawsuit against the publication for defamation of character. Many Guyanese seem to believe that there is a nexus between Guyana Daily News, Sheriff Group of Companies, and the Guyana Government.
In a damning Facebook post made on Saturday, 12th of April, 2025, Ahamd claims that he has evidence that Azzrudin Mohamed has a bounty on his head, and that he knows at least two of the killers.
Statement by Ameir Ahmad
I, Ameir Ahmad, was informed that wanted men Dominique Darrel Osborne and Keron Hinds, along with several Venezuelan nationals, were hired to kill me by Azruddin Mohamed.
I want to make this abundantly clear that I am not afraid of the Mohameds. My brother, a 20 year old who just started life, was attacked and stabbed by men earlier today who said it is a warning from Mohamed, despite what happened, I went along my business until I was informed by a reliable source that a hit was placed on my head.
To the Mohameds, if we are born, we have to die someday, and if you kill me, I will become a martry but don’t feel you will get away with murder the way you got away with killing Ryan Persaud. My family will ensure you are jailed for my death.
You can burn my car, house, and businesses and do whatever you want, but I will not be distracted by your threats. But I don’t understand why you are afraid of confronting me, you know my address. I have said it many times before and I will say it again. I am not the owner of Guyana Daily News.
But if it is a war you want, then it is a war you will get. But trust me, I don’t feel you will win because I am capable enough of handling any war you start by myself. I am not afraid. I am not weak. Allah is my lord and savior, and he will help me because I am not a criminal like you, and I have never sinned, so he will protect me.
You are a so-called billionaire, and you can’t pay GRA the $900 million you owed to them, but you have money to put on my head?
You said the thugs are your employees, so bring your thugs and I will bring my thugs and if you want to start a blood bath, let’s start it. The senior politician who you also want to kill we already know his identity and we also know who you hired and where they are so go ahead if you want the war to start let’s start it now.
You already know where I live, and there is no reason to send messages to me. You know my phone number, so come, show Guyana you have Balls, you want to be President so bad show them you can kill me, maybe then you will get votes.
