Popular Guyanese businessman, social media personality, and philanthropist, Azzrudin Mohamed, who is the principal of Team Mohamed’s Racing Team and several other businesses, has hinted that he might be willing to enter the political arena and contest the upcoming national elections in Guyana.
“ I’ll say this , I am not aligned with any political party. I am not aligned with the PPP, I am not aligned with the PNC…..I am clearly not aligned with the AFC…… everyone knows I can stand alone and defeat them any day,”…Azruddin Mohamed speaking to well known local journalist Travis Chase on Nightly News.
Well known local journalist Travis Chase conducted an interview with Azzrudin Mohamed on the 30th of March, 2025 as speculation grew that he was planning to coalesce with or endorse one of the existing opposition political parties in an effort to unseat the ruling PPP/C government. The interview comes on the heels of numerous meetings with the public by the businessman which might be construed as political campaigns. During the outreaches, people can be seen jumping and shouting “Mohamed for President” and people can be heard voicing economic problems and alleged government shortcomings.
In a previous article, “Can Azzrudin Mohamed Unseat the PPP/C Government,” we speculated on whether Mohamed is really desirous of contesting the upcoming elections. That question has still not been answered definitively, but against the backdrop of his regular public outreaches, his recent statement that he is capable of defeating the government leaves the door open to greater speculation that Mohamed might be planning to make a grand entry into the political arena.
As we mentioned in our previous article on the subject, if Mohamed does run for political office, he will have great obstacles to overcome due to the recent US sanctions on him and his father. Nevertheless, the government in power seems more afraid of the younger Mohamed than all political groups combined.
