The ongoing saga between one of Guyana’s most popular personalities, Mikhail Rodrigues AKA the Guyanese Critic and the Mohamed family of “Team Mohameds” appears to have reached a boiling point as the Guyanese Critic said this morning, 1st of March, 2024, that it’s “war” between him and the Mohameds.

In a Facebook post yesterday, 29th of February, 2024, the Mohameds alleged that the family of a man who was killed while working under the employ of the Guyanese Critic was not given proper compensation. The post alleged that the Mohameds gave the Guyanese Critic 5 million Guyana dollars to pay the victim’s family but less than 500,000 dollars was actually delivered.

The Guyanese Critic came on air this morning, 1st of March, 2024, to refute statements made in the post, and started to point fingers at the Mohameds for for a plethora of alleged offenses and abuses of power. In his Morning Live Show this morning, the Guyanese Critic said that the Mohameds have “stooped low” in their attempts to bring him down and their last Facebook post means “war.”

Statement by Team Mohameds

Mohameds meet with grieving family of operator crushed by crane while working for Critics

It was very emotional today in the Board Room of Mohamed’s Enterprise when we met with the family and relatives of now dead Mr. Shon Anthony Joseph, 44, of No. 76 Village, Corentyne, Berbice who died as a result of an industrial accident while working as a Crane Operator for Tepui Group.

Mr. Joseph at that time was employed by Tepui Group Construction Company, the company which is owned and managed by Mikhail Rodrigues, popularly known as ‘Guyanese Critic’, and was contracted to construct a wharf for Mohamed’s Enterprise.

During the encounter with the family, Mr. Mohamed learned that all Critic did for the family was to extend his sympathy, gave them a mere $460,000 and attended the funeral.

Mr. Nazar Mohamed was shocked when he heard this news and felt compelled to intervene. It is worthy to note that on October 7, 2023 ‘Critic’ visited his office at Lombard Street and collected $5 million under the pretext of “settling” with the family of Mr. Joseph but this never happened.

Upon learning of this development, Mr. Mohamed said, “this is unbelievable, I cannot understand that human beings could be so cruel, look at this family, their main breadwinner is gone, look at these children, who will nurture and take care of them, my God!

The Mohamed’s reiterated their deepest sympathy and concern and gave the family substantial financial assistance and encouraged them to stay strong. He also assured them that the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth shall provide for them.

Mr. Mohamed also swore to them that God – Almighty is aware of all injustices and the oppressor will be held accountable on the day of judgment.

It is evident that money cannot bring back life taking into consideration a life was lost in a senseless and cruel manner and at the very least, his family should have been compensated.

In concluding, the family expressed their profound gratitude to Mr. Nazar and his family for his intervention and generosity and also said that they will deal with the Guyanese Critic and continue to fight the Tepui company.

The family is expected to seek legal advice on the way forward.
