Last updated: February 25, 2024 at 18:12 pmNever before had a Rupununi Village so remote and far flung from the administrative capital been gifted with such modern infrastructural development! The North Rupununi Village of Karasabai now has paved roads!
Karasabai Village, home of the sun parakeets, is nestled under the shade of the Pakaraima Mountains. It borders the Brazilian city of Normandy with the Ireng River forming the border to the Southwest of Guyana.
Councillor Marlon Edwards told this publication that one kilometer of road within the village has been paved. The first layer of bitumen has been laid, with more layers to follow soon. This is the first phase of road development for the village of Karasabai which is part of a bigger, better picture.
The Guyana Government has plans to pitch more roads in Karasabai Village and is continually improving the trail from Lethem to Karasabai.
