Last updated: November 4, 2024 at 0:03 amThe town of Lethem in Region 9, Guyana, South America has been plunged into a state of shock, distress, and mourning after a popular Lethem Resident was mauled to death by dogs. The disturbing incident took place on Saturday, 2nd of November, 2024. The victim, 80-year old Gordon Forte, was reportedly found dead in the yard of a popular Region 9 businessman, his body covered in blood. It was discovered that Forte was mauled to death by the dogs guarding the property.
According to information received by this publication, Mr. Forte resided next door to the property on which he was killed. For some unknown reason, he apparently ventured over into the property when he was attacked by the dogs and mauled to death. Unconfirmed sources say that the dogs are of mixed breed, their blood consisting of rottweiler and pit bull terrier breeds.
To date, it remains a mystery why Mr. Gordon Forte ventured into the property of his neighbor. However, it is well established that Mr. Forte and the said neighbor share a cordial and friendly relationship, and it is generally accepted that Mr. Forte, a respectable and reputable resident of the town of Lethem, is not likely to have trespassed on the property for any offensive purpose. Mr. Forte’s sister, speaking to this publication, suggested that he might have noticed something unusual happening in the yard and gone over to help when he was killed.
At the time of the incident, the businessman was in Georgetown and his wife had gone to Boa Vista with their kids. Upon returning home, the wife of the businessman was shocked to find Mr. Forte lying motionless, covered in blood, in her yard. She immediately raised an alarm and Mr. Forte was rushed to the Lethem Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Speaking to this publication, the sister of Mr. Gordon Forte, who had flown up to Lethem to attend the funeral, told this publication that Mr. Forte, who is originally from Georgetown, came to the Rupununi over twenty years ago and became so entranced by the environment that he decided to spend the rest of his life there. She said he was engaged in various community projects including building a workshop where he taught woodworking to residents of St. Ignatius Village.
Numerous other residents made positive statements about Mr. Forte including longstanding Rupununian, Mr. Wayne Augustus Mann, who called Mr. Forte a “genius.”
At the time of this death, at the age of 80, Mr. Gordon Forte was in relatively good physical and mental health.
