Construction of a new bridge across the Demerara River has already commenced. This new bridge is being built to replace the existing Demerara Harbor Bridge which has outlived its era.

President of Guyana, Dr. Irfaan Ali, is optimistic that this new infrastructural development, along with all the others, will transform the infrastructural landscape of Guyana and facilitate greater trade, industry, and commerce. It will also add to the beauty and enhance the aesthetics of the country.

According to the President, “The hybrid-designed bridge will feature a modern four-lane structure, cycle lane, with a 2.65 kilometers length, driving surface of about 23.6 meters and will have a lifespan of some 100 years.”
