In his Labor Day message today, 1st of May, 2023, President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Dr. Irfaan Ali, promised the nation that University Education will be free by 2025. On the campaign trail leading up the March 2nd, 2020 elections, the then PPP/C opposition had promised to make the University of Guyana free for all Guyanese. However, after taking office in 2020, this promise was not fulfilled to date.
In what seems to be another campaign promise, the president said during his speech today that University Education will become free by 2025.
