Last updated: April 6, 2025 at 18:38 pmAn East Bank Demerara, Region 4 barber, who identifies as Victor Singh, has been left in a state of confusion after unknown persons torched his car in the wee hours of the morning of Sunday, 6th of April, 2025. Speaking to the press, Singh expressed utter confusion as to the motive behind anyone wanting to destroy his car. Contrary to the narrative peddled by some questionable media entities and social media outlets, Singh gave no indication that his wife or an extra-marital affair had anything to do with it.
According to Victor Singh, he and his wife were inside their home, along with their two kids, when they heard a loud “boom.” Upon looking out, they saw Singh’s car, which was parked at the side of the road in front of the house, on fire. Singh said he grabbed a fire extinguisher, rushed outside, and attempted to out the blaze. However, his efforts were futile. Further, by the time the fire brigade arrived, the car was already reduced to its bare shell.
Singh told local reporter Travis Chase that he has no issues with anyone, that he avoids fights and dramas, does his job professionally, and is therefore utterly confused as to why anyone would want to destroy his vehicle. On that note, he is calling on local authorities to probe the case thoroughly in an effort to figure out what was the motive for someone doing this to his property.
When asked if his association with controversial Georgetown businessmen Nazar and Azzrudin Mohamed might have been an element within the possible motive, Singh said that he has no idea. Victor Singh is reportedly the barber of the Mohameds, but he insisted that he does his work professionally, and does not have any deep connection with the Mohameds. Further, he said he has many “high end clients,” and that he often attends to persons who do not talk to each other, but in a strictly professional manner.
Examining the CCTV footage, it was discovered that a car pulled up to the location where Singh’s car was parked at around 3:00 AM this morning, 6th of April, 2025. According to Singh, the CCTV footage shows that a person got out, broke the driver’s side window, opened the door, threw something in the car and attempted three times unsuccessfully to set it on fire. The individual then threw something under the car and drove off, after which there was a loud “boom,” and the car went up in flames.
A plastic bag found next to the car is suspected to be left by the arsonists, and will be used as forensic evidence as investigations into the flagrant act continues.
