Kindly accept our apology for the article we published entitled, “Strange Creature Reportedly Photographed in the Rupununi.” The article was entirely based on false and misleading information. The person who sent in the information appears to have been misled himself.
However, if we had never published the article, we would not have known the truth. Several fans of the Guyana, South America page informed us that the object in the photo is nothing more than a silicone model of what is described as “dog man,” being sold on Etsy, as you can see from the screenshot below.
We understand that this and similar images have been the subject of various fake news publications.
Special thanks to the few fans who politely enlightened us, especially Mr. Randy Tariq Austin of the Rupununi who sent in screenshots from Etsy.

A fan of the Guyana, South America Facebook Page sent in the photo shown above to us. He claims that the strange, bizzarre looking creature was photographed somewhere in the Central Rupununi Savannahs between Parashara and Nappi Villages.
According to our source, who wishes to remain anonymous, the creature escaped from Berbice about three years ago and now resides in the Rupununi. He says that it eats bananas.
Although we expressed doubts about the authenticity of the photo, our source assured us that the photo is not a work of photo editing technology such as photoshop, and that the said creature actually exists and lives presently in the Rupununi.
The creature possibly comes close to the description of what Guyanese refer to as “the bacoo.”
