As tensions soar between Guyana and Venezuela, and Venezuela threatens a military incursion, many people are worried and rumors are spreading faster than wildfire.
One such incorrect rumor is that the border between Guyana and Brazil at Region 9 will be closed in anticipation of a war between Guyana and Venezuela. This publication contacted the relevant authorities in Brazil who said that “nothing of the sort” will happen.
Another rumor which recently started to circulate is that the the Lethem Trail and Kurupukari Crossing will be closed today, 24th of November, 2023. This publication wishes to advise that, as of today, 24th of November, 2023 at 12:00 Noon, there are no plans in place by the Government of Guyana to close the Lethem Trail or Kurupukari Crossing.
