We’re a few days late with this news article. However, It is in the interest of documenting as many natural disasters that occur in Guyana as possible – for educational and research purposes.

This event reportedly happened on the evening of the 30th of June, 2023 at around 10:30 PM. A mini-tornado ripped through the village of Aishalton leaving destruction in its wake as you can see from the photos posted below. Thankfully, no serious injuries or deaths were reported.

Natural disasters are rare in Guyana. For one, Guyana is out of the hurricane belt, making it immune to so many of the destructive hurricanes that ravage our Caribbean neighbors from time to time. There have been, so far, no major earthquakes in Guyana, only minor tremors. Thankfully, the country does not sit on any fault lines. Guyana is also free of volcanic eruptions.

There have been, however, a few reports of funnel clouds and small tornadoes across Guyana. Below are some of the stories we’ve covered on natural disasters in Guyana.
