Last updated: April 6, 2025 at 23:42 pmInformation coming out of Caracas suggests that Venezuela may be planning another assault on ExxonMobil facilities offshore Guyana, in territory they deem “pending delimitation.” In early March, 2025, Venezuelan naval vessels ventured into Guyana’s waters and communicated with ExxonMobil FPSOs that they were operating illegally in “waters pending delimitation.” The move sparked worldwide condemnation with many powerful nations voicing their strong support for Guyana.
The Guyana Government responded by engaging the United States on defense cooperation. Shortly after, the US Ambassador to Guyana said that the United States “stands shoulder to shoulder” with Guyana in supporting and defending Guyana. In a recent visit, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that it will be a very “bad day and week for Venezuela” if it launches any form of military offensive against Guyana. Further, President Ali has reassured the nation that his administration has everything in place to counter any possible Venezuelan incursion.
However, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodrigues said on the 6th of April, 2025, that the United States was planning a “False Flag” operation to attack its own assets offshore Guyana in an attempt to foment a war with Venezuela and to justify an invasion. Rodrigues said that the attack is planned for this week, between the 6th and 13th of April, 2025. In this context, she said that the Venezuelan military is strategically positioned to defend Venezuela’s sovereignty, and that they are not afraid of the the US military.
Further, Venezuelan Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino Lopez, today said that the Venezuelan military has a constitutional duty to defend the Essequibo region which they have claimed is theirs. He said the Venezuelan military, “an army of liberators the likes of Simon Bolivar” is prepared to defend every square inch of Venezuela, and that that includes the Essequibo.
These wild accusations and military posturing suggests that Venezuela might be up to something. It is confusing that a country as financially exhausted and economically crippled as Venezuela would want to go to war with the world’s most powerful military. On the other hand, US sanctions have greatly exacerbated Venezuela’s economic woes, putting their backs against the wall. They envy Guyana’s oil boom and may see a usurpation of the Essequibo as a mercenary project which could bring significant Return on Investment.
Launching any military offensive on Guyana at this juncture would be a big gamble for Venezuela, and most people are of the opinion that they won’t double dare the United States. However, rhetoric and insider information coming out of Venezuela in the past few days suggest that Venezuela might be planning another assault on ExxonMobil facilities.
“Today we want to report that they are preparing another false flag operation, you know that next week is the Celac Summit in Honduras and they are planning to attack this platform of the ExxonMobil in a sea that projects the Essequibo and is pending to delimit and that Guyana violates every day at the disposal of the oil and the sea that is pending to be delimitated. «The extreme right intends to attack the ExxonMobil platform to justify some kind of retaliation and action against Venezuela, they intend to do it with a compadre of Mrs. Maria Corina Machado, along with an American mercenary named Erik Prince, recognized for being a hired killer». “That pod doesn’t scare us. Let them come, but do not dare because they will bite the dust of defeat,” Delcy Rodriguez, Vice President of Venezuela. 6th of April, 2025.

BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA
OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUÉ FROM THE MINISTRY OF PEOPLE’S POWER FOR DEFENSE
The Bolivarian National Armed Forces, strictly adhering to their constitutionally assigned mission to safeguard the integrity of national territory, sovereignty, and independence, remain alert to the accusation made by the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, regarding the new scheme by North American imperialism, which seeks to carry out a “false flag” operation to attack the Exxon Mobil platform operating in waters pending delimitation with the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, with the aim of creating confusion and initiating an escalation of aggression against our country.
It is necessary to remind the entire world that this traditional modus operandi of false positives, frequently employed by imperialist interventionism to provoke conflict situations with premeditation and malice in order to later invade sovereign nations and peoples with all their military and economic power, is part of a worn-out script that has lost credibility in the international community. Nevertheless, it is essential to emphasize that the government of Guyana continues to flagrantly violate the Geneva Agreement by unilaterally asserting ownership over an area where it cannot exercise jurisdiction, allowing foreign drilling ships and tankers that carry out exploitation and commercialization activities in the disputed area.
The men and women of the armed forces wholeheartedly support the firm political stance of the Bolivarian Government to enforce and respect the popular mandate expressed in the Consultative Referendum of December 3, 2023, which reaffirmed Venezuela’s historical rights over the territory of the Essequibo. From that, the firm will and determination arise to respond to any continued threats and, in perfect civil-military union, to any danger that threatens the integrity and peace of our beloved nation.
With the strength and dignity of this heroic people, they have not been able to—and they will not be able to!
¡Chávez Lives!… The Homeland Continues!
¡Independence and Socialist Homeland!… We Will Live and We Will Triumph!
THE SUN OF VENEZUELA RISES IN THE ESSEQUIBO!
¡Independence or Nothing!… Always Loyal… Never Traitors!
Caracas, April 6, 2025
Vladimir Padrino López
