He is the second child for his parents out of six amazing siblings which include two brothers and 3 beautiful sisters.

Navin Hansraj was born at home in No#2 Village, East Canje, Berbice, Guyana. As far as he can remember while growing up, life has always been good to him. Birthed into a family of a unique and successful business has helped him to develop into the entrepreneur he is today.

After finishing high school, he moved to New York City, where he spent most of his early adult years before moving on to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, then the British Virgin Islands, and finally resettling in Guyana in 2010. Today he is happily married to Priya Ramjit and is the proud father of two girls: Mariah & Miley.

During his tertiary education, Mr. Hansraj studied to become a Computer Engineer, followed by a multitude of other qualifications in fields such as Marketing, Communication, and Business Management. Today he is a successful entrepreneur with 2 successful enterprises.

Maya Fitness, founded by Mr. Navin Hansraj, is located in New Amsterdam, Berbice, Guyana.

Navin explained that his life experiences and exposure over the years have helped him to understand the pressures, challenges, and pleasures associated with being one’s own boss. On the flip side of the coin, he has seen the devastating effects a failing business can have on a business owner, their family, and everyone who depends on that business.

In these uncertain times, he has learned to navigate his way to move forward. He relates, “by no means is it easy. It’s a lot of late nights worrying and early morning wondering how the day will unfold and so much more.” He has also come to understand that every situation and every business is different: what might work for his business might not work for yours. There is no one size fits all copy and paste solution. You have to do your research and understand how the industry for that specific business can pull itself out of a situation and get ahead.

Navin Hansraj gives credit to his Business Coach (Action Coach) Dr. Vishnu Doerga whose teachings & simple talks are an inspiration to him.

I have the privilege of giving and sharing through my NGO (Team Maya) and also as a Rotarian (Rotary club of New Amsterdam). I do all I can to help those in need, and I do it wholeheartedly. I’ve touched so many lives and at times, grown men and women would come up to me and say, “Uncle, you are the best, you are always there for us whenever we are in need, God will always bless you.”

This is my reward. The joy I share to families in need is incomparable to anything. It is part of something so much bigger than any religion or politics. It’s called “HUMANITY.” To see the smile on so many faces and to feel the appreciation of these individuals evoke one of the best feelings in the world.

Navin is a well-known entrepreneur and leader in his community of New Amsterdam, Berbice. His successful projects and community works have earned him a spot in many hearts. When asked what advice he has for young people with similar stories to his, he responded, “I would say never give up. Don’t wait for opportunity, create it and keep pushing yourself because, at the end of the day, no one else will do it for you, and so you learn and grow from it.”
