While there is no direct talks of Russia sending a warship to Venezuela anytime soon, the stage has been set up for this prospect yesterday (Thursday, 8th August, 2019) when Russia and Venezuela signed a deal that would allow the two countries to send warships to each others’ ports.

The move comes in the face of increased US sanctions on the Maduro Regime and continuously failed attempts at removing Maduro from power.
Russia condemns the United States’ sanctions which is largely responsible for Venezuela’s economic decline.

Meanwhile, back in the White House, Donald Trump some time last week admitted that Russia has “better weapons” than the United States.

While there has been no talks about Guyana’s border dispute with Venezuela, the threat is still looming over our heads like the sword of Damocles, and if there indeed is a military confrontation with Venezuela over oil, you can be sure that Russia will back Venezuela.

The question is: if Venezuela’s present reserves of over 300,000 million barrels can’t do anything for the country’s economy, why would they want to start a war over Guyana’s meager 6000 million barrels? Makes sense? Not to me.
