As the number of accidents along Guyana’s roadways has skyrocketed over the past few weeks, we wish to urge all Guyanese to exercise caution on the roadways. Bear in mind the following points:

  1. When you are behind the wheel, the lives of innocent people are in your hands.
  2. Alcohol and gasoline do not mix well.
  3. Speed kills.
  4. Risk takers are accident makers.
  5. It is better to arrive late and alive than early and dead.
  6. For minibus drivers especially: what rain can’t fill, dew can’t fill.
  7. Remember that there are lots of “unlicensed” “fake license” and “buy license” drivers on the road. Be alert and defensive when driving and in other ways using the roadways.
  8. Remember the five Cs of a good driver: Care, Caution, Consideration, Common Sense and Courtesy.
