As Christmas is right around the corner, and the season of cheerfulness is in the air, we’d light to share a beautiful story of hope and victory with you. It is the story of a Guyanese man who, after facing a serious health consequence, overcame all odds and took on a new passion.
Richard Muchette, called Ricky, is a 44-years-old resident of the Anna Regina Housing Scheme on the Essequibo Coast in Guyana, South America. The former carpenter could no longer continue his trade after losing one of his legs due to complications of diabetes about 4 years ago.
But not too long after, tasked with the role of a single parent of three boys, Ricky resurrected an old passion of his: making children’s toys. Due to their beauty and intricate designs, Ricky’s creations soon became a great success. He now makes these toys and sells them for a living.
As the Christmas season is around the corner, if you are looking to buy a gift for a child, we encourage you to support this talented Guyanese. It will be a gift of both design and patriotic merits!
