A Grade 8 schoolgirl, of Hope Secondary School, East Coast Demerara, Guyana, South America, was left with a gaping wound to her head yesterday afternoon (17th January, 2020) after being violently attacked by a male classmate.
According to the child’s father, the culprit was harrassing the young girl by touching her and other female students inappropriately. The girl resisted and this resulted in a scramble.
However, after school, the boy, not to be outdone, sought revenge. Using a wooden table leg, he dealt the girl one blow to the head which threw her to the ground. While she was on the ground, he dealt her another blow with the wood.
The girl’s father, Mr. Scott Osmond, in a Facebook Post, wrote:

Update:
We just received the follow comment on our Facebook Page from an eyewitness on the scene:
This is sad as . I saw this yesterday as I was parked on the road waiting to collect my child when I saw the young lady on the ground. I thought she fainted but eventually when I went to assist her along with other students then I realized that she was bleeding and the young man still had the wood in his hand. A million thoughts ran through my mind what to do with this animal of a child but I had to compose myself taking into consideration a number of factors. I hope the family get justice as I understand this young man is a regular upstart.
For God’s sake, when is it going to stop?
Calling on the relevant authority to look into this situation that is happening in Guyana.
This is unfair
Charge him as an adult, let him have a criminal record for life. Or the parents should be charge.
Let him face his own consequences. Not his parents
So sad the parent should take legal action this should deter such reoccurance…..classmates should.respect each other, parents need to help kids with anger….
Well he should be charged because what if that child had died from her head injuries. He is a bully no doubt and something has to be done about this.
First of all, thank God as it could have been worse. He should be expelled, the authorities should be involved and yes he should be charged as an adult. The question is, if other female students were been sexually harassed, why was it not reported to school administration?
They should have been informed.
He needed to be reprimand and send to the boy school in Essiquibo and face the penalty if he is like that what about his parents none of them coming out and give an apology.
