The main opposition political party of Guyana, South America, the People’s Progressive Party/Civic, has this afternoon (26th of January, 2020) held their political rally in Lethem, Region 9.

Interestingly, the rally attracted an enormous crowd of people from across the Rupununi Savannahs of Guyana.

The People’s Progressive Party ruled Guyana from 1992 after taking office from the PNC/R. The PPP/C lost to the APNU/AFC Coalition Government in 2015 which, up to present date, has ruled the country for one term (about 5 years).

The next election which is due in March 2020, is speculated to be a neck-to-neck race between the main opposition party and the coalition government. Newly emerging political parties have been moderately successful in gaining grounds in Guyana’s political arena, but the two major parties: PPP/C and the coalition APNU/AFC still hold the majority of supporters.
