In a report released by the Commonwealth Observer Group to Guyana on the Commonwealth Official Website, today, 18th March 2020, the Group blasted GECOM, particularly the Returning Officer for Region 4, Mr. Mingo, for what it termed “serious and persistent electoral malpractice.”
The report, which will be submitted to the heads of state for all 53 Commonwealth countries, including Guyana, leaves no doubt to the reader that the opinion of the Commonwealth Observer Team is that the tabulation process was rigged for Region 4.
In some cases, the tabulation totals announced by Mr Mingo on 13 March reflected more voters than were entered on the list of eligible electors for certain polling stations.
The statement further added that the right to vote is a sacred constitutional and universal right, and that every vote should be transparently and credibly counted.
