The Guyana Elections Commission in association with the APNU/AFC government seems to be hell bent on putting the Guyanese population’s emotions on a roller coaster ride – to say the least.

The Guyana Elections Commission has only yesterday, 2nd of April 2020, announced that it has made the decision to recount all votes cast in Guyana‘s March 2nd 2020’s elections – from Region 1 to 10 – systematically.

This announcement was met with nationwide applause from supporters of all political parties except APNU/AFC, as well as the international community, observers and foreign diplomats. On the other hand, some supporters of the APNU/AFC took the streets to chant “no recount!”

Following several court cases, it was finally announced yesterday that GECOM has made the decision to go ahead with a national recount of all ballot boxes across the ten Regions of Guyana. Then, on April 3, 2020, another announcement was made – this time, that the recount will be stalled.

Retired Justice Claudette Singh, has said today, 3rd of April, 2020, through her attorney, Kim Kyte, that she will not go ahead with a recount until after the court’s decision on Sunday, 5th of April, 2020.
