Georgetown, Guyana, South America. May 7th, 2020.
The second day of the 25 days recount plan for all votes cast in the March 2, 2020 elections kicked off with a bang today, 7th of May. Well, not exactly. First, there was a long line which party agents and observers were forced to join as they were being screened one by one before being allowed to enter the building.
Then there was another incident. APNU/AFC supporters published a Facebook post stating that there was a “secret meeting” between PPP/C agents and a GECOM IT professional. The meeting was allegedly about conspiring to rig the elections by hacking the data on the spreadsheet.
This turned out to be as ridiculous as it sounds. GECOM later denounced this claim and said there was no secret meeting. Leader of LJP, Lenox Shuman, has also, in a live video, renounced these allegations. There was a slight halt in the counting today, but the reasons for that are a bit unclear at this moment.
GECOM has agreed to tabulate votes for ballot boxes counted at the end of each day. By the end of day 2, May 7, 2020, a total of 67 ballot boxes have been counted.
Within 2 days of counting, 67 of 2339 ballot boxes have been counted. That’s about 34 boxes per day. Even if you count 40 boxes per day, you would only complete 1000 ballot boxes within 25 days. Can anyone explain how they will complete 2339 ballot boxes in the proposed 25 days?
