Yesterday, 25th of March, 2020 marks day 20 of the recount of all votes cast in the March 2, 2020 elections in Guyana, South America. The recount is presently taking place at the Arthur Chung Convention Center in Georgetown, Guyana.

At the close of day 20’s tabulation, a total of 1,169 ballot boxes were completed. That is almost half of the total 2339 ballot boxes of the March 2 elections. A total of 1,170 ballot boxes are now left to be counted within 5 days if GECOM is to meet the 25 days timeline. However, it is unlikely that that will happen and there is an apparent agreement to extend the timeline.

The United States has sent two strong messages to the Guyana government over the last 24 hours – urging them to respect the will of the electorate. The APNU/AFC has claimed victory in the March 2 elections, but says results are not credible.
