National Votes Recount: Day 21: Independence Day

The recount of all votes case in the March 2, 2020 elections in Guyana, South America continues today, May, 26, 2020 at the Arthur Chung Convention Center in Georgetown, Guyana. Today also marks Guyana’s 54th Independence anniversary from the British Empire.

At the close of today’s tabulation, a total of 84 more ballot boxes were completed, bringing the overall total of counted ballot boxes up to 1,254 or 53.61% out of the total 2339 ballot boxes. Presently, 1,085 ballot boxes are left to be counted.

Today, Presidential Candidate for the Liberty and Justice Party, Lenox Shuman, appeared at the Arthur Chung Convention Center dressed in an indigenous cultural attire. Mr. Shuman has been at the forefront of the fight for democracy since the apparent derailment of the electoral process by the returning officer, Mr. Mingo, on March 4, 2020.
