Georgetown, Guyana, South America.
The recently submitted report by the three-members CARICOM Team after the lengthy and painstaking 34-days recount contains some damning statements against the APNU/AFC poltical party.
The report clearly states that a democratic government must be installed despite calls from the David Granger administration and cohorts for fresh elections.
Part of the Report Reads:
The national recount then, despite some its administrative failings, despite some of the minor flaws, is not an indictment of the 2020 polls, and the Team categorically rejects the concerted public efforts to discredit the 2020 poll up to the disastrous Region 4 tabulation. Despite our concerns, nothing that we witnessed warrants a challenge to the inescapable conclusion that the recount results are acceptable and should constitute the basis of the declaration of results of the March 2, 2020 elections. Any aggrieved political party has been afforded the right to seek redress before the courts in the form of an election petition.
While the APNU/AFC appears to be seeking to push Guyana down the road of another long and costly electoral process, the OAS has joined CARICOM in calling on the David Granger administration to step aside and pave the way a democratic transition of government based on the recount results.
