Last updated: July 23, 2020 at 17:19 pmAfter evading contact for some time, Chief Elections Officer of the Guyana Elections Commission, Mr. Keith Lowenfield, has been officially served summons to appear in court tomorrow, 24th of July, 2020 at 9 AM. Among the several charges filed against him is the breach of public trust in his capacity of CEO of GECOM after disenfranchising over 115,000 voters in an election report prepared contrary to the instructions handed down by the GECOM Chair.
Two private citizens, Dr. Daniel Josh Kanhai and Mr. Desmond Morian, represented by Attorneys Glenn Hanoman and Mark Conway, have filed private criminal charges against Mr. Keith Lowenfield on the grounds of breach of public trust, fraud and misconduct.
Mr. Lowenfield has been served the summons today, 23rd of July, 2020, at the GECOM secretariat office in Georgetown, Guyana, South America. He is expected to appear in court tomorrow, July 24th, 2020, to answer the charges.
Dr. Josh Kanhai, one of the founding members of “The New Movement” political party in Guyana, posted on his Facebook Page that he is very elated at this development and that “Justice must prevail so that the will of the Guyanese people be respected.”
