THE STANDOFF

This photograph (above) was taken on the evening of 5th March, 2020, a few hours after RO Mingo had fraudulently declared results using spreadsheets which were obviously generated to thwart the will of the electorate and steal an election.

I was pointing out to DCEO Roxane Meyers that there was sensitive material, including Statements of Poll and other documents, in the RO office behind me that would be left unattended and unsecured. What is evident is the excessive police presence…there were at least 8 ranks there.

I left upon the advice of and in the company of Assistant Commissioner Edgar Thomas, whose authority was seriously undermined, even though he was the senior commanding officer on the ground.

Moments after this, a contingent of about two dozen police ranks from the Tactical Services Unit, in full riot gear, descended upon the location and removed the few persons that were there in their capacity as representatives of several political parties including the PPP/C, PRP and ANUG.

The documents left behind were never seen again.

If the riggers think that their action is forgotten, they should think again.

I welcome the indication from HE Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali that there will be investigations into the electoral process that was threatened by these insidious acts.
