His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali has received a congratulatory letter from German President, His Excellency Frank Walter Steinmeier, who has also expressed a willingness to fortify the relationship between the two countries.
In his letter, the German President states: “Please accept my sincere congratulations on your inauguration as President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. Your election is a reaffirmation of democracy in your country, which is founded on the same values that are important to us. These values and convictions form the basis of our good cooperation, which we are keen to further intensify together with you.”
The German President also acknowledged that President Ali has taken office during a particularly difficult time and offered his best wishes for his success.
“You are taking up your new office at a difficult time. The COVID-19 pandemic and its economic and social impact are posing a global challenge, which we can only overcome by working together. I wish you, also on behalf of my fellow Germans, much strength and every success with the major task of safely guiding your country out of the crisis, bringing prosperity and peace to your people as well mastering all of the challenges ahead of you,” the German Head of State said.
