In a heartwarming statement aired by Newsroom yesterday, 17th of August, 2020, President of Guyana, Dr. Irfaan Ali, urged the Guyana Amazon Warriors to give their best in the upcoming games and “come home with the trophy.”

As once again we enter the CPL Season 2020, I take this opportunity as the President of Guyana to wish the Guyana Amazon Warriors the best in this season on behalf of all your fans here in Guyana and that is, all Guyanese. We look forward that this year you will not only get to the finals, but that you will cross the finals, be successful in the finals and bring the trophy home.
I know that you are playing under very difficult conditions in this season. We would like also, all of you, the superstars, to take this opportunity in helping us, not only in Guyana, but in the rest of the Caribbean and globally in educating people on how important it is to follow the COVID-19 guidelines, the new measures that will allow us to live in a COVID-19 environment and accepting the challenges that this pandemic brings to all of us.
So once again, on behalf of the people of Guyana, good luck, do us proud and come home with the trophy.
