Clairmont Mingo Granted Bail

Returning Officer for Region 4 during the 2020 elections, Mr. Clairmont Mingo, has today, 31st of August, 2020, been granted bail to the tune of $600,000 after being detained for allegations of electoral fraud.

Mr. Mingo has been charged with four counts of alleged misconduct while in public office. He was arrested on the 25th of August, 2020 and kept in police custody even as his lawyers fought to have him released.

Yesterday, Sunday, 30th, protestors in Belladrum on the West Coast of Berbice took to the road to block traffic and burn objects in protest of the Mingo’s arrest.

It was alleged that Mr. Mingo attempted to falsify data on a spreadsheet during the tabulation of Region 4 votes for the March, 2, 2020 elections in Georgetown, Guyana, South America.
