Single mother received a new SINGER sewing machine towards entrepreneurship.

A single mother received a new singer sewing machine to start her own business from home. The donation was made possible through our Donors and the Humanitarian Mission Guyana Inc.

On Tuesday, the Humanitarian Mission donated $34,000.00 GYD towards the purchase of a sewing machine for a single mother with two children. The woman said that being a single parent comes with challenges but she is determined to rise above poverty and use her sewing skills to provide for herself and her two children, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic which has put her out of a steady job for months. The equipment was handed over today by the Humanitarian Mission Guyana Inc.

The Humanitarian Mission originated in New Jersey, USA, and for 15 years they have been working on several projects in Guyana that focus on helping children by assisting them with funds for school and women exposed to all forms of violence and are willing to break the cycle.

The Humanitarian Mission focuses on small businesses, especially training at Mission’s facility, located at Lot 14-26 Area Q, Ankerville, Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice, Region 6, Guyana for young adults in skills such as Information Technology, Sewing, Cake Decoration, Garment Construction (Sewing), Balloon decoration, and sewing.

Suicide prevention and mental health awareness, and other social ills are also on the agenda of the Mission. The Mission’s aim is to help provide resources to empower individuals who are in need and are willing to help themselves to transform their lives through entrepreneurship.
