An unidentified young woman, who appears to be in her early twenties, has reportedly been killed in an accident along the East Bank of Demerara, Region 4, around 5AM today, Sunday, 14th of March.

The driver of the motor car said that he was proceeding north along the western carriageway at Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara, when the victim walked into the path of his vehicle. She appears to have died on the spot.

The unidentified young woman, who appears to be of Spanish heritage, is suspected to have left a party at “Biker’s Bar” close to the scene of the accident. The driver of the vehicle said he saw the young woman cross the road once and was attempting to go back over when she stepped in front of his vehicle resulting in the collision.

A police marking on the road indicates that the young woman may have indeed stepped into the path of the car. The driver of the motor car appeared to have been traumatized, distraught and in tears at the scene of the accident.

This is a developing story. We will provide more details as it becomes available.
