A young woman of Aishalton village, Region 9, Guyana, South America, who contracted and recovered from the Covid-19 virus, believes that the double-dose of the vaccine might very well be the reason she is alive and well today. Ms. Immaculata Casimero of Aishalton Village, South Rupununi, tells her story.
It all started with sneezing, then an itchy throat, ear ache, coughing, and minor headaches. I still thought it was just a normal cold since I had taken the rain the day before and I always take all necessary precautions when I’m at work or out in public.
After two days, the symptoms continued, and I decided to go to the hospital where immediately I was tested, and the results showed that I was positive for coronavirus. Subsequently, three of my family members also tested positive.
I was really afraid because I’m asthmatic and would experience shortness of breath occasionally. And from reading in the news and hearing from other people about their experiences about the virus, I became worried-not that I’m afraid to die
However, thank the Great One I was not severely affected . I think the vaccine helped me from getting seriously ill. Note: I’m fully vaccinated, and I believe that if it wasn’t for that, I could have ended up in a worse situation
I also used traditional medicine to help combat the virus. Since my children are not vaccinated, I feel the traditional medicine also helped them to recover quickly. So I just wish to say a special, “Thank You” to Nurse Realine for her patience, care, and kindness throughout these two weeks. Our health care providers are real heroes. Thanks to Deputy Toshao, Samantha Gomes, and Councilor, Catherine Michael, for the hamper and goodies delivered to my family. Thanks to Toshao Michael Thomas for passing by to check on me, to my family members, colleagues, friends and dear ones who called, texted, and messaged. Thank you .
And to those who visited from a distance to see how we were doing, “thank you, just seeing you meant a lot to me .” To all of you, your authenticity and selfless nature have really shined during this challenging time. It comforted me immensely to have you checking on me and aiding me during my journey to recovery. Thanks to you folks for the overwhelming love and support. Thank you with all my heart~ Mackie.
