An accident took place this morning at around 11:50 A.M at Crane, West Coast Demerara, Guyana, South America. The accident involved a motor car with number plate PRR 6559, which was driven by a lone male occupant, and a tractor with a trailer attached.
According to eyewitnesses, the car was heading east towards the direction of Vreed en Hoop, while the tractor was proceeding west towards the direction of Parika on the West Coast of Demerara Highway.
The persons on the scene related that the car was trying to overtake the traffic in front of it when the accident occurred. Apparently, the driver of the car underestimated the proximity of the oncoming traffic. The driver of the tractor, which was coming in the opposite direction, apparently attempted to pull down to the side of the road to give the car leeway, but he didn’t manage to execute the defensive maneuver in time to save the day.
The car slammed into the rear right side wheel of the trailer pitching it to the side of the road while spinning around several times. The driver was pinned into the car as police and rescue workers tried to remove him. The extent of the car driver’s injuries is not clear at this time.
