Kapildeo Jangadin, the 24-year old Annandale resident who recently escaped from the Lusignan Prison, was recaptured this morning by the Guyana Police Force. The GPF said that they will release more details surrounding the recapture of the fugitive later.

Jangadin is on remand for the murder of 20-year-old Chris Persaud who was murdered a few weeks ago during a scuffle while Jangadin was apparently trying to relieve Persaud of his gold chain. The accused whipped out a knife and dealt Persaud several stabs resulting in his death.

A leaked interrogation video shows Jangadin confessing to the murder of Persaud. He is heard saying that he and Persaud had a “fight” and that he doesn’t know where the knife came from, but that he stabbed Persaud about his body several times.

Members of the Guyana Police Force, acting on information received, recaptured the suspect this morning.
