Well known opposition Member of Parliament, Mr. Sherod Avery Duncan, has been arrested by the Guyana Police Force today, 13th of January, 2022, in connection with an alleged act of cybercrime.
According to police, a report was filed by one Aneil Giddings of the Guyana Elections Commission that Mr. Duncan, in his popular Facebook broadcast, “In the Ring,” made derogatory remarks about him and specifically called him a “jagabat” and “trench crappo.” This is said to have caused Mr. Giddings great emotional distress and humiliation.
The said episode of the nightly broadcast was downloaded and retrieved by the Guyana Police who have taken statements from both Giddings and Duncan as they continue their investigations into this cybercrime.
