A concerned citizen of Guyana, South America sent us the photo above showing school children crossing the Upper Mazaruni River in Region 7, Guyana, South America to attend the Jawala Primary School.

According to the citizen reporter, the bridge is attached with “strings” and the children risk falling into the river and being swept away by the fast flowing currents. While some or all of the students may be good swimmers, it is not wise to risk such a situation.

As you can see from the picture above, the parts of the “bridge” are connected by strings and the students have to hop from one to the other.

This situation is an accident waiting to happen. Let’s not wait for something to happen. Let’s act now to prevent a potential disaster. Team Guyana, South America calls on the relevant authorities in government to rectify this situation as early as possible and provide a better means of crossing the river for these children to attend school.
