On the 20th of February, 2022, 28-year old Amrita Singh was violently attacked and chopped to the head, in her street, a few meters away from her home, while returning from the shop. Her attackers, Varshanie Cyril and Melissa Edwin, were granted $25,000 bail each while the next court hearing is set for April 4th, 2022.
Amrita related to this publication that, this morning, she went to the hospital to remove the stitches which she had received on her head after being chopped. However, after returning home, the young woman was horrified to find out that Samuel Chisholm, the husband of one of the accused, had just called her mother and used threatening language.
According to Amrita, Chisholm told her mother that he will “do one bad job” and kill Amrita, her husband, and her sister, and go to jail, and that this time, he will use a gun and shoot them.
The traumatized young woman and her family are now living in tremendous fear since she feels that the police are not taking measures strong enough to deter these criminal actions.
