Last updated: April 23, 2022 at 19:59 pmA popular Georgetown businessman, Mr. Compton Narine, who served his country, Guyana, for most of his life, has died at a ripe old age of 76 years. His family said he led a meaningful and successful life, and left a legacy that his children are proud to carry on.
Mr. Compton Narine was born on the 2nd of May, 1946 at Alexander Village, Georgetown, Guyana, South America. He was the proprietor of Compton’s Grocery and Meat Center at Bourda Market and an importer of meat products of which he was a wholesaler and retailer. According to his daughter, Ravina, the young Compton started business before Bourda market had a roof and developed it into something great. He learned the ropes of business as a little boy helping his mom and dad in their shops. A brilliant businessman, he was very skilled in math, and often gave meaningful advice to some of Guyana’s leading businessmen.
A beloved son of the soil, Mr. Compton Narine spent his time on earth well, and his children, wife, and extended family, though mourning his death, are all proud of his achievements. He has left footprints in the hearts of many which will never be erased. He leaves to mourn his wife, Sandra Narine, and five children: Oma, Dan, Ravi, Shoba, and Ravina, amongst others close to him, all of whom are grateful for his hard work, sacrifices, and the lifetime of love he showered on his family.
Mr. Compton Narine, a man who generally enjoyed good health throughout his lifetime, passed away at the Balwant Singh hospital in Georgetown on the 17th of April, 2022 after a brief period of illness.
