In August, 2021, we published a story highlighting the distress of residents of Lowland Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, Guyana, South America. Several residents had reached out to this publication asking us to highlight the dilapidated condition of the roads in that village which makes the life of the residents extremely difficult.

Unfortunately, the Ministry of Public Works did not address the issue to date. The residents have once again reached out to this publication to highlight the daily woes faced in traversing those roads especially during the rainy season.

While we acknowledge that the government is making great strides in improving infrastructure across the country, and things must be handled one step at a time, we’d like to reiterate that the roads at Lowland Housing Scheme have been in a rundown condition for several years, and the matter is of pressing urgency.

Team Guyana, South America would like to urge the Guyana Government, and more specifically, the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, to turn its attention towards the people of Lowland Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara so as to consider their plight and relieve their distress.

We’d like to appeal to all Guyanese to kindly share this article until it grabs the attention of the relevant authorities.

Here are some more photos sent in to us by residents of that community.
