The family of Saigon Hopkinson, the boat captain who was allegedly discovered submerged inside a fuel tank on Monday, 6th of June, 2022, is saying that they believe he was murdered. They have questioned how someone the size of a grown man can fall into a fuel tank so narrow (photo below) and why there were marks of violence about his body.

Hopkinson was discovered dead inside a fuel tank of the vessel he was working on at around 5:30 hrs on Monday, June 6, 2022. His employer, David Wong, said Hopkinson and two other sailors worked aboard the boat “Olivia” which transports fuel from Bartica, Region 7 to Adventure, Region 2.

According to reports, the Olivia docked at the Adventure Wharf in Region 2 at around 5:00 hrs. David Wong’s brother went to check on the workers at around 5:30 hrs. The two other sailors were there but the captain, Hopkinson, was missing. They commenced a search and soon found him submerged at the bottom of the fuel tank. Hopkinson’s co-workers said they were clueless about how he ended up there.

An autopsy conducted by government pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh, revealed that Hopkinson died from chemical inhalation.

Speaking to this publication, the sister of the deceased said that the family believes Hopkinson was murdered and they are praying for divine justice since the laws of man failed them. The young girl further explained that when she got to her brother’s dead body, it didn’t have the smell of someone submerged in fuel.
