19-Year-Old Region 9 Girl Goes Missing, Family Pleads for Help

Anisa Miguel, a 19-year-old Guyanese woman, has gone missing from her workplace at a remote area (perhaps Tamakay Landing) in Bartica, Region 7, Guyana, South America, and her family is pleading for the public’s help in locating her.

Details of the circumstances of her disappearance are still sketchy at the moment. A close relative of Anisa told this publication that she had left her hometown of Lethem earlier this month (June 2022) to work at a remote area in Bartica. The relative said she last spoke to Anisa on Wednesday, 15th of June, 2022, and Anisa said she was doing OK.

However, the relative said she received a call from Anisa’s boss lady on Saturday informing her that Anisa has gone missing and that a police report was already made. According to the relative, the boss lady said that she sent two girls to sell perfumes at a location (perhaps Martin Landing) and Anisa tagged along with them. A boat dropped the girls off to the location on the evening of Friday, 17th of June, 2022.

However, the boat captain allegedly said that the girls were drinking and Anisa was too intoxicated to go on the boat when he returned to pick them up around 9 PM on Friday night. The boat captain reportedly said he left Anisa sleeping in the bar lady’s room and returned with the two other girls who were sober enough travel on the boat.

He reportedly went back to get Anisa the next morning but the young woman was nowhere to be found. According to reports, the bar lady looked into the room later that night but could not locate Anisa, and she has since been missing.

The boss lady reportedly called Anisa’s aunt on Saturday to tell her that Anisa had gone missing on Friday night and no one knows where she is. She said the police were informed and a search party is conducting an intensive search operation to locate Anisa Miguel.

According to the relatives, Anisa’s father is deeply distressed by the development and has been admitted to the hospital due to stress related complications.

The relatives are pleading for the help of the general public. To date, no one has come forward with any information. Her aunt went to a police station on the West Coast of Demerara to file another missing person report there today. However, the police at West Coast told her they are shocked that a report was made in Bartica since whenever a missing person report is filed, all the police stations across the country are informed.

The West Coast Demerara police station said they are not aware of any missing person report for Anisa Miguel. The relatives called the Region 7 division today and was told that indeed a missing person report was filed in Bartica on the 21st of June. Note that Anisa went missing on the night of Friday, 17th of June.

One of the women who was working with Anisa Miguel texted her aunt of Facebook and scolded her for posting the missing person alert on Facebook. She said the police doesn’t want the whole country to know because they don’t have all the details.

A source who lives within the area called Anisa’s aunt today and told her that they saw Anisa at Martin Landing on Friday night.

The source said that they also saw Anisa boarding the boat along with the boss lady and two other girls to leave Martin Landing after they had had a few drinks.

This contradicts with the boss lady’s story that Anisa was too drunk to leave the Landing and also that only the two other girls were with her.

25th of June, 2022

Police have arrested the bar lady along with the two girls who worked with her and questioned them. They gave a slightly different version to the story they had given to Anisa’s family earlier.

The bar lady and the two girls told the police that none of the three girls left Martin Landing on Friday night as they were all too intoxicated to travel. This conflicts with an earlier version of the story whereby the family learned that the two girls left on Friday night but Anisa was too intoxicated to travel.

Further, the boss lady said that she went back with the boat captain on Saturday morning to get the three girls but couldn’t find Anisa upon arriving there.

The two other girls said they last saw Anisa dancing with a strange man.

Anisa reportedly left her cellphone back at the workplace when she left for Martin Landing.
