A body suspected to be that of Anisa Miguel has been found this morning at around 7 a.m. floating in the Mazaruni river several miles away from Martin Landing – where Anisa was last seen. The discovery was reportedly made by a Brazilian miner. The body was clad in the blue jeans and white top that Anisa was last seen wearing.
Anisa Miguel was reported missing since the night of Friday, 17th of June, 2022. Days later, a police report was made and a search operation went into action. The relatives of Anisa received several conflicting reports about her disappearance. The relatives initially heard that Anisa left her workplace at Tamakay Landing to accompany two other girls who were going to sell cosmetics at Martin Landing. Upon arriving there, Anisa and the girls were drinking and became intoxicated. The boat captain said Anisa was too intoxicated to board the boat so he left her sleeping in a bedroom in the bar.
However, several conflicting versions of the story subsequently emerged such as that none of the girls left the landing that night and that Anisa was last seen dancing with a strange man. The police subsequently arrested and questioned the bar lady along with the two other women whom Anisa had accompanied to Martin Landing.
Over the course of the last 9 days, relatives and friends of Anisa Miguel hoped and prayed that she would be found alive. Anisa leaves behind a four year old son.
Team, Guyana, South America extends heartfelt condolences to the relatives and friends of Anisa Miguel.
