Protestors took to the streets of Buxton today, 4th of July, 2022 to protest a series of alleged grievances committed on them by the Government of Guyana. One of the organizers of the protest, speaking to the media, said that, contrary to public opinion, he does not believe that De Nobrega shot and killed Quindon Bacchus.

When asked whom he thought shot Quindon Bacchus, he said that it was an Indian policeman who went back to the station with an empty barrel, and that orders were given to protect that policeman at all cost. When asked what was the name of the Indian policeman, he stammered and stuttered for a few seconds, then said that the name of the policeman is Richie Persaud.

The protestors shouted, “no justice, no peace!” They said they will take the protests to “a next level” if their demands are met. Among the things they said they are protesting for are justice for slain Afro-Guyanese, whom they alleged were killed by the government, more business and work for Buxtonians, and more infrastructural work in the community of Buxton. They said the government needs to give contracts to skilled Buxtonians instead of “outsiders.”

The protest today was organized ahead of time. The Police Force had issued a statement that no permission was given for the protest, but the organizer responded that they don’t need permission to hold the protest.
