In March this year, we wrote about the historic launching (or relaunching) of the Lethem Cricket Club which was spearheaded by Mr. Kenrick McDonald. Since then, top ranking officials, public figures, and authorities in the Region have given the project their full support. The Lethem Cricket Club is now in full swing, and very soon, football will no longer be the only sport practiced in the Rupununi Savannahs of Guyana.

The Mayor of Lethem today announced that a pavilion and sanitary block were constructed on the Lethem Cricket Ground. This is a huge step forward. Very soon, budding cricketers from the Rupununi will be showing off their skills to the cheers of a spectator laden pavilion – bringing more excitement, activities, and revenues to Region 9, and unearthing once hidden talent.

According to the mayor, the construction of the pavilion and sanitary block for the Lethem Cricket Ground was made possible by financing from the Rodeo Committee who donated the revenue of the 2022 Rupununi Rodeo Performances to the project.
