Guyanese Were Sold a Pipe Dream

Prior to the 2020 elections in Guyana, Guyanese were sold a pipe dream. They were promised a life of rapid economic transformation and luxury that got them overly excited. But more than two years after oil starting flowing out of Guyana, and after over 700,000 million US dollars in oil revenue, little, if anything, has changed for the better for the general Guyanese population.

Residents Line Up to Purchase Sugar in World’s Fastest Growing Oil Economy

Reminiscent of the dark days of the Burnham dictatorship era, the streets of Guyana are once again seeing Guyanese lining up for foodstuff – this time, only sugar – but it’s still defined as “food shortage.” It is not clear what exactly is causing the shortage of sugar as the CEO of GUYSUCO boasts that GUYSUCO is exceeding its sugar production projects, but sugar shortage has become an all too real thing in Guyana.

Residents of Wakenaam Threatened by Snakes

Residents of Wakenaam Island on the Essequibo River, Region 3, have reached out to this publication to highlight a disturbing issue and call on the relevant authorizes to relieve their distress by addressing the matter at hand. According to the residents, there is a drain at Good Success, Wakenaam, which hasn’t been cleaned for 19 years, and as a result, snakes are breeding inside, putting the nearby houses in danger.
