Putting an Adequate Roof Over the Head of Every Guyanese is a Priority of the Irfaan Ali Administration
The President says that this will not only lend to the beautification of Guyana, but will make citizens happier and more comfortable, stimulate the economy, provide jobs, and increase the net worth of Guyanese citizens in general.
During his visit to Region 9 yesterday, 26th of August, 2022, President Ali announced massive support for housing projects in the Region that will help hundreds of residents to erect new homes with the support of government grants, project funding, and subsidized loans.
During his interaction with the people of Region 9, the president announced a whooping 1 million dollar one-off grant for persons desirous of constructing a new home. This is further augmented by government subsidies to local banks which will provide home builders with an additional 2 million dollar collateral-free loan at a nominal interest rate of only 3.5%.
A staggering 600 Region 9 residents are set to receive 1 million dollars each for home construction, and government support for an additional 2 million dollar collateral-free loan at a low interest rate of only 3.5% from GBTI and NBS banks. This will give aspiring home owners a 3-million head start in the race to own to their own homes.
But that’s not all. The President ups the game by granting 10 million dollars to a group at Shulinab village for a clay brick production facility that will kickstart the project with the first 30,000 clay bricks which will be sold for the construction of homes in the upcoming construction boom in the Region.
All of this comes against the backdrop of Guyana’s recent oil boom – the revenues of which will serve as a catalyst for accelerated development of the lives of all Guyanese. President Ali is on the ground interacting with citizens and making that dream a reality.
