A gay student of St. John’s College in Georgetown, Guyana, has taken to social media to raise awareness of the victimization and bullying he suffers on a daily basis which he believes to be triggered because of his sexual orientation. The teenager made a Facebook post today, 10th of September, 2022, detailing his ongoing ordeal, and showing a video of one example. In the video, a fellow student walks up to him and asks him in colloquial expression “what’s wrong with him,” before forcefully dealing a blow to his head.

The victim, who identifies as “Andrew Paul” posted the video today, 10th of September, 2022 on social media. It appears to have gone viral garnering hundreds of thousands of views in a few hours. In the Facebook post, the student describes his school life at St. John’s College as “the worst nightmare ever.” He says he is being physically, mentally, and verbally abused by both teachers and students because of his sexuality.

The student further alleges that complaints to the HM’s office are consistently being ignored, allowing his abusers to carry out their atrocious acts with impunity. The youth says he is praying for his remaining time at the school to “sweep by” so he can write his exams and get out of there.

He also calls on the Minister of Education to investigate this and other situations where students become victims of constant bullying because of their sexual orientation.
