Dear Editor,

THE COMMUNITY OF MOCHA MUST CONDEMN AND DEMAND SIMULTANEOUSLY A PUBLIC APOLOGY FROM APNU+AFC MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT Hon. Coretta McDonald.

Article (11)1 of the Constitution of the Republic of Guyana clearly stipulates Freedom of Assembly and Association:

(“1. Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and to freedom of association with others, including the right to form and to join trade unions for the protection of his interests.

On Monday 12th September, 2022, the President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana President Irfaan Ali, upon a request by the people of the Village of Mocha and the NDC responded immediately visiting along with a team of Ministers, Hon. Sonia Parag, Hon. Charles Ramson Jr. and other members of government.

That meeting, although it wasn’t planned in a timely manner, would have still seen the turnout of almost 93% of the residents of the village which had never seen before not even by the APNU+AFC of PNC while they were in government.

A number of troubling issues would have been raised by concerned residents which most can be termed as a distraction and destruction to and from the unprecedented progress by the Mohammed Irfaan Ali Led Administration by the APNU+AFC which is their known modus operandi. The president would have assured residents of Mocha that he was elected to serve all Guyanese despite Ethnicity, Religion or Political Affiliation, which does not exempt Mocha and he will ensure that they benefit equally as all Guyanese — a gesture which was highly applauded and welcomed by all present.

Subsequently to the President’s and team successful outreach. Hon. Coretta McDonald, along with her female colleague in crime, Hon. Natasha Singh MP, via social media live, racially publicly attacked the black community of Mocha calling them “CLOWNS” because of their engagement with the President and Ministers of government.

The APNU+AFC and more so the PNC faction of the coalition needs to understand and be reminded that they hold neither lease nor title for people of black skin in Guyana and they must be cognizant of the fact that their spell of indoctrination upon the lives of Afro-Guyanese has been broken by the unprecedented leadership of Dr. Mohammed Irfaan Ali / PPP/C government in the manner of One Guyana.

I take this opportunity along with the people of Mocha to “DEMAND A PUBLIC APOLOGY” from the Hon. Coretta McDonald as it relates to “Clowns” comment.

Guyana’s Indigenous Ambassador

Kevon Lorrimer.
